Meritocracy is a systems of government or another organization where in appointment are made and responsibilities are given based on demonstrated ability and talent rather than by wealth, family connection, class privilege, the will of people and political power.
Advancement in such a system is based on intellectual talent measured through examination and demonstrated achievement in the field where it is implemented.
one of the main understandings of the functionalist view of the education system is that it acts as a "ladder of opportunity" for people to achieve the best that they can, according to their ability.
The best people will than go on to gain the best jobs and become the leaders of their society.
Meritocracy is a form of social system in which power goes to those with superior intellects. because, the belief that rulers should be chosen for their superior abilities and not because of their wealth or birth.
